Combat animations in the remake have been amped up to quite an extent — landing a backstab or a parry has never felt as satisfying as it does in Demon’s Souls. That being said, some people have criticized the Demon’s Souls remake for losing the art aesthetic of the original in favor of a look that is way more realistic and less atmospheric. Whatever one might say about Bluepoint’s remake, one thing that absolutely needs to be acknowledged is just how amazing the game really looks.

Developer Bluepoint Games, which created 2017’s Shadow of the Colossus remake, is rebuilding Demon’s Souls from the ground up. It’s a glossier, more refined version of the PS3 classic, but one that stays true to the original’s gameplay and level of difficulty. What’s Different In Remake?

For newcomers the Royalty starting class which focuses on magic is recommended. Demon’s Souls isn’t just a good game — it’s one of the best PS5 launch games available and one of the best launch titles ever. If you’re apprehensive about the difficulty, try to find a friend for some co-op because this isn’t an experience to miss out on. Bluepoint Games’ previous work was well done but this is truly stellar. I don’t envy the team trying to figure out how their next project will be even better but I certainly look forward to it.
